The Friendly Farmer Butchery is a family-run online butcher based on our farm in the heart of the Swartland, just outside Cape Town. We’ve lived on this land for over 30 years, and started the butchery in 2019 to supply clean, pasture-raised meat directly from our farm to local families.

WHAT IS DELIVERING PROCEDURE?
On Monday, in the week of delivery, you will be added to our “Track your Meat Order” Whatsapp group. A list of estimated delivery times is placed on this group. Any updates and other delivery info will be communicated in this group up until the point of delivery.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT TIME TO COLLECT MY ORDER?
On the morning of delivery, we start a live location on our Whatsapp tracking group when we leave the farm. You will be able to follow our route and see exactly how close we are to your collection point. When we leave a collection point, the group is updated with our estimated time of arrival at the next point.
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY WEIGHT OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM?
We are a small family-run butchery and most of the meat comes from our own animals. We work with whole animals and only slaughter as we need. Every animal is unique and therefore the weights can vary. We try to keep our weights as accurate as possible and will always update our store with the exact stock we have available.
IS YOUR MEAT HORMONE FREE?
Our animals are hormone free and roam freely on our farmlands. None of our animals receive any growth stimulants or routine antibiotics and we do not have feedlots on our farm.
WILL MY ORDER BE FROZEN?
We make fresh products for each delivery. Our products are frozen on the same day as they are packed so that you receive your meat frozen at its freshest point. Whole or half lamb is processed the day before delivery and it is delivered fresh and unfrozen.
HOW LONG WILL MY ORDER TAKE?
We deliver every two weeks and we make to order, ensuring your meat is as fresh as possible when you receive it. Orders for each delivery close on the Tuesday before the delivery week. Depending on when you order, it could take a week to 10 days.
WHY IS THE LEAD TIME SO LONG?
We process all of our animals by hand in our farm butchery, and to keep our products as the highest quality and as fresh as possible, we prepare them based on the orders that have come in for a particular delivery. Quality takes time.
WILL MY ORDER BE DELIVERED TO MY HOME?
We do not do home deliveries at this point. Our delivery is free of charge and we meet you at your closest chosen collection point.
